½ðɳÓéÀÖ

In a remarkable convergence of talent, passion and academic backgrounds, seven ½ðɳÓéÀÖ alumni  were among the scores of people who helped make the acclaimed stop-motion film in Portland. The film took about three years to create and was released Dec. 9. It won the Academy Award for best animated film. 

Rosalie Goode ’15 became a dental hygienist through ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University’s School of Dental Hygiene. Now, thanks to a statewide pilot program at ½ðɳÓéÀÖ, she has become the first licensed member of a new cohort of mid-level dental provider in Oregon. 

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University Alumnus Carl Boeck '75 enlisted after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and went on to deliver the gift of sight to people in places around the world where the military was conducting civil affairs work.

Nancy Murakami may spend most of her time in Oregon, but the ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University social work professor is never far from trauma’s front lines. 

Martha Cuevas-Ramos SLP '17, who is being awarded an Emerging Leader alumni award, knows the joy on a mother's face. She helps put it there.

Derek Brown '98, MAT '99, says leadership "was a powerful idea for me." His career as an educator, policy setter, officer and musician illustrates that.

Former U.S. Rep Les AuCoin (D-OR)’69, Hon. ’78, has turned over to ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University an extensive collection of papers documenting his life in public service. He responded by email to a set of questions from ½ðɳÓéÀÖ magazine’s Mike Francis about his choice to do so, issues of politics and the tenor of the political climate, as well as some personal reflections. 

The collected papers of ½ðɳÓéÀÖ alumnus and former U.S. Rep. Les AuCoin are now available to researchers, students and others at the Tran Library at ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University.

Following a grant from the Oregon National Space Grant Consortium, physics alumnus Huy Nguyen '21, along with Physics Professor Todd Duncan built a three-dimensional model showing the optimal orbit for spacecraft to "park" between the earth and moon. The model will be exhibited at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville.

½ðɳÓéÀÖ University's academic and extracurricular engagement with the outdoors may be traced to the first Earth Day in 1970.

Stoller, a 1974 ½ðɳÓéÀÖ University undergraduate alumnus, will receive an honorary doctor of letters at ½ðɳÓéÀÖ’s Undergraduate Commencement, where he also will be the keynote speaker.
